The Hotel & Multi Storey Car Park, comprising the first phase of this exciting regeneration project are due to open in June 2009. The thirteen storey building will have 136 bedrooms and 308 car parking spaces. It will be one of the tallest buildings in Hull and is set to be a landmark on the eastern gateway of the city centre and a major attraction for business and tourism in the region. The Hotel will operate as a Premier Travel Inn. The project is part financed by the European Union.
Work on the iconic new footbridge, which will provide an important link into the city centre is also progressing with completion anticipated for late 2009. The bridge is essential to support the regeneration of the area and will be a major visitor attraction. Yorkshire Forward, the regional RDA, are funding the bridge and delivery is being co-ordinated by Hull Forward, the local EDC and Hull City Council.
The first phase of the residential element of the project has been postponed as a consequence of the downturn in the residential market and the deteriorating economic outlook. Pure Urban Limited are working with the public sector partners involved to bring forward the development at an appropriate time in the future.
